Are you new to world of hair extensions and don't know where to begin? Our Learning Lab is filled with answers to the most basic of questions.

How is the hair attached to my hair?
Hair Addict sells wefted hair. By definition wefted hair is loose hair that has been sewn together using thread and a sewing machine creating a weft or track. To attach the wefts, your natural hair is braided, creating a base to attach/install the hair. The weft is attached to your hair using needle and thread (specifically designed for hair weaving). The hair is sewn directly to your braids and in some instances a hair net. While there are many tutorials available on the Internet, it is highly recommended you visit a professional stylist who is well educated and experienced in installing hair extensions and weaving.

I have received my hair, now what?
Congratulations on your hair purchase! You are well on your way to becoming an official Hair Addict. Upon receipt of your hair, there are a few things that can be done to; ensure hair is ready for installation and ensure longevity in the wearing of your new hair. Here are the best steps to take:

1. Sealing
Hair Addict takes extreme pride in the strength of our wefts. We not only provide the thinnest but we believe they are among the strongest. However, due to the daily wear and tear of combing, washing and styling, we recommend you seal your wefts.
Sealing your weft is a simple process of applying a sealant across the top of the weft. This minimizes shedding due to daily styling. Hair Addict does not currently sell sealants, however fabric sealer from your local craft store works well as a sealant. We do not guarantee or make any warranties about any particular brand but among the most popular and reputable are; Aleene's Stop Fray, Dritz Fray Block and Fray Check.

2. Washing and Conditioning
Hair Addict washes and conditions the hair prior to shipping, however most customers prefer to rewash the hair prior to installing. Following the below instructions will help to prevent tangles when washing.  It is Hair Addict's recommendation that you use a sulfate free shampoo. However, if you do not have access to one, you should dilute you regular shampoo with water. When washing the hair, ensure all bundles are facing the same way. Apply shampoo along the shaft of the hair, you may use a comb of wig brush to comb through the shampoo, rinse and repeat.  Following shampoo, you can apply a moisturizing conditioner, using a comb, you can comb conditioner through hair. You may also use apple cider vinegar (ACV) as an additional step during the conditioning process. Apple cider vinegar can be found in your local grocery store and is commonly used to smooth the hair shaft, remove product buildup, restore PH balance of the hair, and prevent tangles.

3) Hang and Dry
After washing out conditioner and/or ACV rinse. Squeeze water from hair, it is NOT recommended you wring or twist hair. You may also pat dry the hair with a towel.
Before hanging hair to dry, comb through hair to ensure hair is smooth before hanging to air dry.
Tips for hanging hair to dry:
1. Use pants hair, fold wefts over and clip to pants hanger, hang to dry
2. Use clothes pins, fold wefts over, clip using clothes hanger, hang to dry
3. Air drying is the best method for drying, however if you must use blow dryer, dry on low/med heat setting.

Can I cut the wefts?
It is not recommended you cut the wefts when having the hair installed. If possible, you should request your stylist fold over the wefts and sew around the wefts when installing. Doing so will ensure minimal shedding and will increase the longevity of your wefts.

What should I consider when styling?
You can style Hair Addict hair as you would your own. The hair is Virgin/Remy hair so you can use the same styling methods as you would use on you natural hair. You should however be mindful of excessive heat styling. When possible, hair should be air dried. Using excessive heat will cause the hair to dry and become brittle prematurely. Very much like your natural hair.
